Another Rush is Over

I had a huge post in early May with a number of recent sessions simply because I had been so busy which is a good thing. I swore to myself once I got caught up ‘Never again would I let that happen’ and here we are nearly a month later and I have a large group of sessions to post. So much for swearing to myself.

Emme
When Emme’s mom originally contacted me she said her 2 year old daughter had a great personality and loved to be photographed and she wanted to capture her spirit with portraits. I know every parent is a bit biased but I have to admit that Emme was exactly as she described. Emme had both indoor and outdoor sessions on two weekday evenings. She brought more clothes than seniors do for their portraits (and that is usually enough to fill a closet) so we had many cute outfits to pick from. Here is just a small sample of Emme’s portraits.

Nathan, Beth and baby Grace

What a precious little addition to Nathan and Beth’s family.  I heard a rumor she will be attending Texas A&M considering both of her parents had were wearing Aggie class rings.

Emily
Emily asked if she could include her best friend in a portion of her senior portraits and how could I say no?  And here I thought it would be a boy or girl friend!

Kate

Kate wanted to include a portrait similiar to one I had done previously in a wheat field and we found the perfect location.  Any guess where she is headed for college?

Brenna

Brenna was a referral from Cambria who I photographed earlier in the year.  Both of these seniors are from Melissa, TX.   And of course,  her puppy demanded to be a part of the spotlight, too.

Victoria

Victoria came from Plano to  have her senior portraits made.  An interesting session, we were photographing in my studio when the tornado warning siren went off.  Guess we should have turned the music down low enough to hear it!  All was well, just a little wind and some great senior portraits.

Asa

I got to photograph Asa twice in one week.  Once for her senior portraits and a second time with her friends as they prepared to go to the senior prom.  I really enjoyed working with Asa both times!

Terry McKaig (6 comments.) - Beautiful girls and beautiful work David!!

Boss out of town, lets have a sale..

Maria here.. The boss is out of town for a week and he told me to make some money while he was out. He didn’t tell me how so I am having a half price sale on products already ordered. You can order a duplicate of any wall portrait, album, or gift prints you purchased in the last year for half price. This sales lasts thru Saturday because he returns on Sunday. Send an email with what duplicate image you would like to reorder and I will get back with you before the boss returns. This will teach him to leave me in charge when he goes out of town!!

Mands (13 comments.) - LOL, go Maria! and wow what a great opportunity to put aside some fantastic birthday or christmas gifts!

Jane Eaton Hamilton (7 comments.) - Lucky clients...

Senior Mania – McKinney, TX Senior Portraits

I am leaving for Texas School, a professional photography school where I and 999+ additional photographers gather to enhance our skills and see old friends shortly, but I promised myself I would get caught up on blogging before I left. This will be the LARGEST blog post I have ever made. So many awesome seniors in the last month. I have really enjoyed hearing about their future plans, and seeing a lot of misty eyes from moms and dads when we placed orders and talked about how the wall portrait they were purchasing would be a daily reminder of the accomplishment in raising their child for the last 18 years.

Audrey
Audrey was into photography so we had some great discussions while creating her senior portraits. She photographs area bands which is something I have never had the opportunity to do so I enjoyed hearing of her experiences from her.

Tessa
Just before I photographed Tessa, I found this amazing field of yellow flowers (OK, maybe weeds, but they were blooming) and when I saw her blue dress I knew I we just had to photograph her there. Tessa’s brother came with us and was my lighting man that day, so he gets some of the credit for how great the outdoor pics looked. Be honest, have you ever seen more amazing blue eyes???

Kayla
Kayla was part of a very unique duo of seniors in one week. Both she and Caitlin (below) are award winning horse jumpers (am I stating that correctly?) who ride out of the same stable, know each other but did not know they were both having senior portraits made by me. For Kayla’s outdoor session, we went to the stable and made some portraits with her favorite horse. Kayla is the first senior that has an older sibling that I have done her senior portrait for. Thanks to mom and dad for trusting me to create portraits for both their seniors.

Josh
I dont get to photograph near as many guys as gals so when I do I look forward to it. Josh came in on a rainy Saturday so we photographed in my studio and my natural light area. Josh had some great shirt / tie combinations which we used with some non-traditional poses to create some great senior portraits. The first pose was from my natural light room and was easily mom’s favorite.

Taylor
Taylor came from Plano to have me create her senior portraits. She had so many outfits that I HAD to photograph we really hustled in her combination session. Taylor was a natural at posing and I am certain I could submit some of her images to a magazine and get a job posing models. Gig Em, Taylor – enjoy aTm.

Caitlin
Caitlin was the 2nd senior to visit me in one week who is an award winning horse jumper. I had just discovered a new location with spring flowers and giant (well for McKinney there were giant) trees so we went there first. I managed to lose my iPhone while in the woods and unbelievably returned later in the dark and found it! Caitlin might have been my good luck charm.

Alexandra
Alex had her senior session just after I got some new backdrops in so I was excited to try them out. Alex was referred from her friend and classmate Kristin which I really appreciate as they were the first two seniors from their school I have photographed (and I hope for many more of course). I like to kid seniors when I photograph them and Alex is one of the few who held her own with me and actually put me in my place a few times!

This artistic image was my favorite one from the session and I was very pleased mom got a wall portrait of it to display!

alex-49

Wow, what a post! Now I have 23 minutes to pack and head out for Texas School. When I return I will post even more sessions I have done recently including seniors, newborns, families and a very fun workshop I hosted at my studio for professional photographers.

Shannon (15 comments.) - What amazing variety and some truly special kids. Great job as always, with your lighting.

Mands (13 comments.) - FABULOUS!~!~! Love seeing all the variety and hearing about all the amazing seniors you have photographed lately. I adore that you really know how to incorporate who they are and what they love into each and every session.

Terry McKaig (6 comments.) - Soooooo many wonderful images David........what a great ending to an amazing senior year!

Designed by Kate Senior Portraits McKinney, TX

If I was backed into a corner and forced to pick my favorite session of all time, this would be in the top few considered. Plano Senior Kate designs her own clothes. Her dad is an artist. Her mom said use your artistic vision – we trust you. And so I did. Her clothes were perfect for my natural light rooms so we only used studio lights for a very small portion of the session. While Kate’s look is very edgy, as you can see I enclosed one image which shows she is just as comfortable in a contemporary designed dress. I could ramble all day about her session, but instead have spent way too much time trying to decide which few pictures I can settle on to represent what Kate and I created.

Kristen’s Sr Portraits – Dallas, TX Senior Portraits

I cannot believe it has been over a month since I have updated my blog. Well, actually I can because I have had senior 2009 portrait sessions, senior 2010 spokesmodel sessions, family sessions and a couple of weddings since then. I have at least 10 very cool sessions to blog about and promise to get them added soon.

But enough of that…. Kristen has the most amazing eyes I can ever remember capturing. She came in recently for her senior portraits and honestly, I just wanted to sit in front of a natural light window which made her eyes sparkle for the entire session. I have picked out a few of my favorites from Kristen’s Senior Album to share.

Dawn brought her daughters in recently for family portraits. I have never seen two daughters more well behaved which made their session not only easy but a lot of fun. Tell me she is not proud of those 2 angels! Here are a few of my favorites from their session.

Claudine and Hein’s Bridal

I had the pleasure of working with Claudine and Hein to create their engagement and bridal portraits recently. The day started very cold, but luckily we spent the morning inside my studio. That afternoon, it was a bit chilly outside, but that only meant we had Los Colinas to ourselves. I really enjoyed spending the day with them and want to congratulate them on the wedding! [Make-up and hair was provided by Toby Roberson ]. Enclosed are a few of my favs from that day.
